This is a film that tells the story of how people are always connected by love, no matter the barriers or obstacles they have to deal with. It shows how strong love can be, in opposition to segregation and divisiveness and it shows, above all, that love is universal.
It will be a film made of moods and based on the differences between both sides of the US-MEX border, with a documental approach. This means that there won’t be a strict script where all the environments are planned ahead. Instead, the team will be looking for situations that can illustrate the mood that is intended. A man that meets his family at the border, the family he had to leave behind to provide for them, the sacrifices both sides of this torn apart family has to make, landscapes shot in beautiful natural light to incite a feeling of nostalgia, portraits of people of all ages, gender and race looking at the camera allowing us to connect emotionally with the story, people walking hand in hand in the same direction, religious symbols that illustrate the love and faith of those who believe and all these moments will be balanced with imponent shots of the wall, of the authority that imposes the law, with metaphors that symbolize this barrier that may seem very powerful but that are not stronger than the bonds that people create among them.
The artists (Pedro Abrunhosa and Lila Downs) are the ones who deliver this powerful message and they are singing and communicating with each other through the music and the lyrics.
The music itself can be divided in four parts, in terms of dynamics (00:00 ; 1:22 ; 02:11 ; 02:57 ). The first verse from Pedro and Lila will be used to introduce the characters and what drives these characters, which is the love for each other. In the first chorus that is sung by both, the music becomes stronger and that is when the wall and the authority gain momentum. In the last part, we have love conquering all of the above, with all these characters being able to be with each other despite what stands between them.
